I thought for very long that it was Clapton because the mp3 I downloaded said Clapton, but it's very easy to change the name. and there is a video on Youtube where Mason plays that version. this song is also on a Bruce willis movie called The story of us. and on the soundtrack it's Mason williams on classical gas.
